Summer Term 2009
Newsletter No. 9 - 12th June
Dear Parents,
The weeks are passing quickly towards the end of term but there are still a number of events I need to draw your attention to, please read on!
Lost Property
We have lots of lost property items, most of which have no name! They will be on a table in the playground on Monday 15th June, please check to see if you can claim any items. The rest we will be sending to a charity.
African Day of the Child
On Tuesday 16th June we are celebrating African Day of the Child. The children will be taking part in activities relating to Africa, with particular reference to Bo, our link school in Sierra Leone.
Sponsored Bounce
The friends are organising a sponsored bounce in school on Thursday 18th June. All the children will take part and a sponsor form will be sent home with your child.
Induction Day
Wednesday 24th June is induction day when all children spend some time in the classes they will be moving to in September. Please remind them it is only for the day and they return to their own classes the next day! Year 2 children will be visiting their Junior Schools for September. All children going to All Saints Junior School for the day will require a packed lunch. Children entitled to a free school meal can be provided with one from school, please ask in the school office.
School Sunday
We are pleased to be taking part in School Sunday on Sunday 28th June in All Saints’ Church along with All Saints Junior School. We meet at 9.30am and this year the children will be singing one song with the junior school. Parents can drop children off if they cannot stay and they will be looked after by staff. The service concludes at 10.30am and unaccompanied children will be looked after until they are safely collected. I hope as many of you as possible will be able to attend. The children do not have to wear school uniform. Please can you confirm with your child’s class staff if they are going to be attending.
Intercultural Festival
Twelve Year 1 Oak children have been invited to attend an Art Festival Workshop at Lillington Primary School in Leamington on Tuesday 7th July. The workshop is part of the Intercultural Creative and Performing Arts Festival 2009. If you have a large car and would be able to help with transport on this day please speak to Miss Johnson.
Yellow Pages Challenge
I am very pleased to tell you that we have been given a Silver Award for outstanding achievement in recycling 681 Yellow Pages. Thank you for all your support and hard work. We have been awarded a prize of £200 which we are going to spend on gardening equipment.
Twycross
The whole school will be visiting Twycross Zoo on Wednesday 1st July. All children should have received a letter; please return your payment and permission slip as soon as possible. If you are able to help on the day please speak to your child’s class staff.
Summer Fair - Saturday 4th July, 12-2pm
Helpers are needed! Please sign the lists in the entrance hall if you could spare some time.
Non-Uniform Day
Children can come in to school on Friday 3rd July in their own clothes in return for bringing a tombola prize for the summer fair.
Prize draw!
We are looking for your help to let us know of activities, clubs and facilities that you or your children are aware of.
Your name will be entered into a prize draw once for every activity you put forward … so the more the better! Please include:

Times, Days and Ages of different activities-
Your name and contact details (for the prize draw).
Information can be returned to your school reception or emailed directly to stock.r@myton.co.uk. Remember the more information you give the more times you will be entered into the draw. The closing date is Wednesday 24th June 2009
Sports Day
Sports Day will be held on Monday 13th July starting at 10am (weather permitting) at All Saints. Please bring a picnic with you to have after the activites when we return to Emscote. All children will need a packed lunch on that day. Children entitled to free school meals can be provided with one from school; please order in the school office.
Reports
Your child’s report will be given to you on Friday 3rd July. Please could you return the report slips to class teachers. We really appreciate feedback on the reports and how you feel your child’s year has gone, so please add a comment.
Summer Parents’ Meeting
On Monday 13th July, after Sports Day, there will be an informal parents’ meeting when you and your children will have the opportunity to look at their books and share some of the lovely things they have been doing in school. Please put the date in your diary! If you have any specific concerns or questions please arrange to meet your child’s class teacher.

Friday 19th June at 9.15am – Cherry
Friday 26th June at 9.15am – Oak
Leavers Concerts
Our end of year concerts are to be held on Wednesday 8th July at 10am and 6pm. The 10am performance is for Reception, Year 1 parents, grandparents and other family members to attend, but the 6pm performance is for Year 2 children and their families only as this is followed by the leavers BBQ. Details of this will be sent to Year 2 parents shortly.
Church
The final assembly for the year is at 9.15am on Tuesday 16th July at All Saints Church where we will be saying goodbye to our amazing Year 2. Please come and support us.
Free School Meals
Families in receipt of free school meals should be receiving Renewal Application Forms in the next couple of weeks which will need to be completed and returned as soon as possible to make sure your child will continue to qualify when they return to school in September.
End of term
Term ends on Friday 17th July at 3.00pm.
