The Year 1 Cherry children have been invited to attend an Art Festival Workshop at St Patrick's Catholic Primary School in Leamington. The workshop is part of the Intercultural Creative and Performing Arts Festival 2008.

Assembly at All Saints

Tuesday 24th June All Saints are visiting Emscote for assembly.

Tuesday 8th July Emscote pupils will be walking to All Saints to share an assembly.

Outside toys

We have a few bikes and scooters that need fixing; if anyone could spare a moment to have a look at them for us it would be much appreciated. If you have a bike or a scooter that your child has grown out of or no longer uses we would also be very happy to receive them.

Summer Fair - Saturday 5th July, 12-2pm

Helpers are needed! Please sign the lists in the entrance hall next week if you could spare some time.

Non-Uniform Day

Children can come in to school on Friday 4th July in their own clothes in return for bringing a tombola prize for the summer fair.

Questionnaire

As you know we appreciate your views as parents on things we do well and things we could do better at Emscote. In order to find out what you think and to give you the opportunity to have your say I have sent you a questionnaire. I would be obliged if you could spend time filling it in and returning it to school so we can analyse your responses, thank you.

Sports Day

Sports Day will be held on Monday 14th July starting at 11am (weather permitting) at All Saints. Please bring a picnic with you to have after the Sports when we return to Emscote. All children will need a packed lunch on that day. Children entitled to free school meals can be provided with one from school. Please order in the school office.

Sponsored Bounce

The friends are organising a sponsored bounce in school on Thursday 12th June. All the children will take part and a sponsor form has been sent home with your child.

Reports

Your child's report will be given to you on Monday 7th July. Please could you return the report slips to class teachers. We really appreciate feedback on the reports and how you feel your child's year has gone, so please add a comment.

The summer parents' meeting is informal. Parents and children have the opportunity to look at their books and share some of the lovely things they have been doing in school. This will be on Monday 14th July after Sports Day. Please put the date in your diary! If you have any specific concerns or questions please arrange to meet your child's class teacher.

Sharing Assembly

Friday 13th June at 9.15am – Sycamore

Friday 27th June at 9.15am – Chestnut

Funerals at the church

At times there are funerals at the church when the children are leaving school. On these occasions please ensure your children are with you and you leave the school area quickly to show respect for the families and friends at the funeral. Unfortunately I have had a complaint from the family of a recent funeral about some of the Emscote children being rude and disrespectful. This caused the family added distress at a very difficult time. Please ensure this cannot be repeated.

School Sunday – 8th June

Please come along and join us at 9.30am at All Saints Church. Children can be dropped off and collected at 10.30am .

Leavers Concerts

Our end of year concerts are to be held on Wednesday 16th July at 10am and 6pm. The 10am performance is for Reception and Year 1 parents to attend, but the 6pm performance is for Year 2 children and their families only as this is followed by the leavers BBQ. Details of this will be sent to Year 2 parents shortly.

Pencils for children in Kenya

Last year we collected pencils, colouring pencils and other drawing equipment for Komaranch S. A Primary school in Kenya . We would like to collect for the school again this year as the children have no basic equipment to use in school. They are also looking for pen pals from the school to the children in Kenya . If your child would be interested in becoming a pen pal please let me know.

Church

Final assembly for the year 9.15am on Tuesday 15th July at All Saints Church to say goodbye to our amazing year two. Please come and support us.

School Administrator

Mrs Briggs has decided to take a new challenge as she joins the staff at Warwick Nursery Children's Centre. We would like to show our appreciation for the many years of service Mrs Briggs has given to the children of Emscote by presenting her with a gift. If parents would like to make a donation I would be pleased to accept it. Please mark the envelope “Mrs Cossins” and hand it in to the office, thank you.

Class Photos

Orders for class photos have been collected. Any late orders will be collected when photographs are delivered to school. If you have yet to order, please bring your order to school as soon as possible.
