Caretaker

We are still looking to employ a caretaker, 17hrs per week, to start as soon as possible. The job involves cleaning, security and general maintenance of the school. More details are available from the school office. Closing date: Friday 7th March 2008.

School Meals

I am very keen to promote the improved system for organising school meals. The new system is called “Family Service” and is similar to the system many parents may have experienced when they were at school. This is working very well and we would like to encourage more children to have a hot dinner. On Monday 17th March we are offering a free school dinner to all of the children and parents. A letter has been sent home with a reply slip that should have been returned by Monday 3rd March. If you did not receive a letter, please see Mrs Briggs in the office. If your child usually has school meals please would you return your completed slips, if you have not already done so.

Makaton Course

The head of Ridgeway is thinking of running a Makaton course for staff and parents. Please let me know if you would be interested in attending.

Mrs Servant

Mrs Servant is returning from Maternity Leave on 19th March to teach in Willow class with Mrs Goldsbrough. Mrs Walbaum will go back to teaching on Fridays in Oak class. We will be sorry to be losing Mrs Wilkinson, but hope she will continue to come to school as a supply teacher.

100 Club

Every month the Friends hold a draw of numbers purchased. If you would like to join our 100 club please pop in to the office or see Mrs West (Ella’s mum in chestnut). Each number costs £12 a year with the possibility of winning each month. You can also subscribe for the remaining school year for only £6! Mr Queralt has won £11.50 this month!!

Playground

Please remember that the adventure play equipment, train and sandpit are to be used during playtime and lunchtime. Before and after school we are not covered by the schools insurance.

Holidays in term time

If you wish to take your children out of school during term time for a holiday a form, available from the school office, needs to be completed and returned to school with an accompanying letter, if necessary. This should be done 6 weeks before the start of the holiday. Up to 10 days in a year may be granted and authorised, but previous attendance will be taken into consideration. Once attendance has been checked you will be contacted to inform you if the leave has been authorised or not. You may be asked to come in and speak with me regarding your application.

Finally, I would like to thank parents for their continued support.

Yours sincerely

Debi Cossins
Headteacher
