School Newsletter
Spring Term 2008
Newsletter No. 6 – 7th February
Dear Parents,
Car Seats
As you remember last year there was a change to the Child Car Seat Law. I have been asked by the road safety officer to remind parents and children that they must be seated on the correct booster seat for their own safety.
World Book Day
We would like the children to dress as a book character on World Book Day, Thursday 6th March. We will be holding many exciting literacy activities for the children.
Sports Relief
On Friday 14th March we will be raising money for Sport Relief. We will be asking the children to bring in a small donation and they will be challenged to run a mile; all the money raised will be used by Comic Relief to help vulnerable people in the UK and the world’s poorest countries. It is also National Skipping Day, so you can expect tired children at the end of the day!
Sharing Assemblies
Sycamore - Wednesday 27th February 9.15am
Cherry - Wednesday 5th March 9.15am
Chestnut – Wednesday 12th March 9.15am
Parents Evening
Please remember that it is Parents Evening tonight. It is your opportunity to find out how your children are performing in school, to look at their work and to find out how you can support them at home. Please ring if you have not organised a time and we will try to fit you in.
Sand Diggers
If any parents have some time we would greatly appreciate help to dig out the old sand from the sand pit so we can replace it with fresh sand.
Shoe Shop
Reception classes are having a shoe shop as their role play. If you have any interesting shoes and shoe boxes for role play they would really welcome the donation.
Playbox Theatre Trip
On Wednesday, 20th February the whole school is visiting the Playbox Theatre to see Haito The Tree Wizard. Please speak to your child’s teacher if you are able to help - we will be leaving school at 12.30pm. Please make sure permission slips are returned to the office by 18th February.
Caretaker
We are currently looking to employ a caretaker, 17hrs per week, to start as soon as possible. The job involves cleaning, security and general maintenance of the school. More details are available from the school office.
Midday Supervisors
If you are available to be a relief midday supervisor when we have absence please see Lindsey in the office. A lunch time session would be from 11.50am – 1.05pm and payment would be £8.70. You would need to undergo a CRB check if you have not already had one.
CRB Checks
You are reminded you must undergo a CRB check if you help in school. Please come to the school office to obtain a disclosure application form.
Myton Hospice Fundraising Envelopes
The Myton Hospice Fundraising Envelopes should be returned to school by Friday 8th February.
Fones4Schools Recycling Campaign
We are still taking part in the Fones4Schools Recycling Campaign. The school earns money and you can receive prizes in exchange for your old mobile phones. Collection bags and prize leaflets are available from the school office.
Pre-School Job Opportunity
Emscote Pre-School is looking for a bookkeeper to start as soon as possible. The job involves about 2-3 hours work each week (at home); for more information call Lesley on 01926 495619.
Easter Bingo
