School Newsletter

Autumn Term 2007
Newsletter No. 4 – 5th December

Dear Parents

We are now entering that busy fortnight when lots of fun activities are taking place in school. Please read on…….

Christmas Fair

This Friday 7th December 6 – 8pm. Please try to support the event.  Helpers are still needed, if you can help please sign up in the school entrance hall. Jam jars(filled or empty) are still required. There is a non-uniform day on Thursday when children can bring in items for the tombola.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Freya Cole-Trevorrow's grandma on winning the balloon race. Her balloon travelled to Clermont-Ferrand in France! We had 9 balloons that travelled to France which is brilliant.

Christmas Concerts

We are all looking forward to the children performing “The Bossy King!” We will welcome grandparents, Year 3 and brothers and sisters from All Saints Junior School on Monday 10th at 2pm, so it will not be necessary for them to attend any other performances. Please return your ticket request slips as soon as possible. It would be appreciated if toddlers and babies could attend the morning performance and NOT the evening.

As in previous years, parents are free to video or take photos at the performances.

Christmas Party

Parent Rep's will be coming round soon with party food lists for the Christmas party to be held on Wednesday 19th December in the afternoon. The children may bring their party clothes in a carrier bag so that they can change into them before the party.

Coats in school

Just a reminder to send your child with a coat every day, please. Some children have recently been arriving at school without one. Don't forget to make sure the coat is clearly named, thank you.

School Christmas lunch

You should have received a letter requesting payment for your child's Christmas lunch on Thursday 20th December. Please return the slip to school by Monday 17th December.

School Closure text message service

In the event that the school has to close due to bad weather you can now sign up for free text alerts. This is a new innovation and operates as follows: sign up for free text alerts at: www.warwickshire.gov.uk/schoolclosures If you registered last year, you will need to register again for this year. Announcements will also be made on local radio stations.

School Post Box

This is in the entrance hall. Please clearly mark the envelope with the name of the child and their class so that our expert team of Year 2 sorters can deliver them correctly! Please bring your cards to school week beginning 10th December.

Book Club

The last book club will be held on Friday 14th December and will resume in the New Year.

Samaritan's Purse International

Well done. We managed to collect 45 shoeboxes which will make a lot of children happy this Christmas.

New noticeboards

We now have new noticeboards in the playground, a parent's information board at the top of the steps leading to the school hall and an A board by the fence.

School website

Our website address has changed to www.emscoteinfants.co.uk  (though you can still access it via the old address at the moment).  Please go and have a look.  We are very pleased with it.  There are photos for you to see and more will be continually added.  Please share the address with friends and family as we are proud to show off our school.

Absences from school

Please remember to telephone the school if your child is absent for any reason.  If you are unable to do so, please make sure you send a letter to the school office when your child returns explaining their absence.  Any unexplained absences may be recorded as unauthorised.

Abbey

Abbey have launched a new mortgage referral scheme that can help raise funds for school. If you are due to re- mortgage or looking for a mortgage Abbey will pay school £100 for every £50,000 of mortgages completed. The school just needs to pass on your name and number to the Abbey. No other details are shared with the school. Please consider this if you are re-mortgaging in the near future.

Playbox Theatre Trip – Friday 14th December

Thank you to everyone who has sent in their consent forms and payment for this exciting trip.  If you have not yet returned your forms to school, please return by Tuesday 11th December. Thank you.

School Policies

We have to inform you that our Disability and Gender Schemes are available in school for parents to see if required.

NSPCC

We have just received confirmation that we raised £567.42 last term for NSPCC. This will help children to be protected from abuse and neglect. Thank you for your kindness.

Milk

If your child is entitled to free school meals, the school will provide free milk to your child as we receive a grant from Warwick Town Council, please ask in the school office.

Stomach upsets

Please remember if your child has been sick they must be not be in school for 24hrs. We have a lot of children who are returning to school before they are well.

Questionnaire

We are sending home a questionnaire to find out how things have been at school for your child this term.  We would be grateful if you would complete it and return to school by Friday 14th December 2007.  Thank you.

End of term

School will finish at 3pm on Friday 21st December 2007 and the children return on Tuesday 8th January 2008.

Have a fabulous Christmas and a Happy New Year

Yours sincerely,
